Hello
I have the most satisfying of careers. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to provide time and space for a person to prioritise themselves. I have a holistic approach, recognising the importance of overall well-being for body, mind and spirit.
I am curious and have always valued learning. The role I have carved out offers many opportunities to extend my knowledge and experience, through meeting new people and through the need to continuously grow and update my professional knowledge.
After a long career in education, mainly in Early Years, I went through a challenging period in my life, after a suicide in the close family. Regular appointments then with both a counsellor and a complementary therapist, opened my eyes to the deep benefits of talking therapy as well as complementary therapies. These experiences is the main reason I chose to change career, and it is what fuels me now.
Apart from my private practice work I have been a Samaritans-volunteer for over 6 years. I have also recently volunteered for an NHS-funded project, which offers short-term counselling to patients. Before that I volunteered at a local hospice as a complementary therapist.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). I am also a member of Creative Counsellors. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and am fully insured.
When not working or volunteering I like being outside, experimenting in arts and crafts and also doing nothing, just being, when I need to.
